PUCMM rector and leading national political arbiter, Monsignor Agripino Nunez Collado, who leads the National Dialogue process, told reporters yesterday that he believed that a solution would be found at the next meeting scheduled between the general secretaries of the PRD and the PLD to discuss differences at the Central Electoral Board (JCE). He said that he has met with Orlando Jorge Mera of the PRD and Reinaldo Pared Perez of the ruling PLD and that both showed their interest in resolving the dispute affecting the computer center at the JCE. Readers may recall that there have been three meetings between the parties but so far no solution has been put forward that satisfied both parties.
The impasse came about after the resignation of the JCE computer center administrator, Miguel Angel Garcia who disputed work being carried out by then computer center director Franklin Frias. This led the PRD presidential candidate, Hipolito Mejia, to call for the firing of Franklin Frias. Garcia had been hired in a previous election to head the department, when work of Frias was also disputed. Frias has had the backing of the president of the JCE, Roberto Rosario.
