Some ten months after a plane crashed between Enriquillo and Paraiso, the authorities are now investigating the scene. According to Barahona province deputy district attorney Ivan Ariel Gomez Rubio, who took part in the discovery of the crash site, the airplane was not registered in the Dominican Republic. Quoted in El Nuevo Diario, the official said that based on the state of the human remains found at the wreck, the accident happened at least ten months ago and the aircraft was almost certainly carrying drugs. He said that the Forensic Institute would have to establish how long ago the crash took place, but in his opinion, given the condition of the bones found at the scene, it had been at least ten months. He added that it was also likely that the plane had been set on fire after the crash.
