On Sunday 5 February, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) handed over the final electoral roll to the political parties, meaning that it is now closed to new inscriptions. The electoral roll containing the names of the 6,502,968 people at home and abroad who will vote in the election.
JCE president Roberto Rosario said that there are 14,730 electoral colleges with 4,730 voting stations. Of Dominicans living overseas, 328,649 are entitled to vote.
The electoral roll reflects an increase of 460,086 new voters and 74,715 have been removed from the roll due to death, civilians who have joined the military or other reasons.
On 15 February the representatives of the political parties will meet to formally declare the campaign open.
