Around 500 teachers took part in the thirteenth Dominican Mathematics Education Meeting (REDOME) with the aim of overcoming the problems students have in learning math.

The activity was organized by the Higher Institute of Teacher Training (ISFODOSU) and the Latin American Committee for Mathematics Education (CLAMED), with the participation of national and international speakers.

ISFODOSU rector Ana Dolores Guzman de Camacho stressed the importance of the meeting for discussing the importance of improving the way that mathematics was taught. She said that some students had low results in mathematics exams.

During the opening of the activity the president of CLAMED in the Dominican Republic, Angela Martinez said that the meeting had brought together mathematics specialists from various universities such as UASD, UNAPEC, INTEC and ITLA. The participants discussed a range of ways of teaching mathematics.
