A new poll carried out by Bendixen and Amandi, a US research company specializing in political analysis and investigation in Latin America, reveals that Hipolito Mejia will receive 50% of the vote, and Danilo Medina 39%, in this May's Presidential election.
The poll was conducted between 28 January and 1 February across the whole country, with a sample of 1,200 people and a margin of error of 2.8%.
Mejia received the best results in the southeast with 55% and the lowest in the National District with 46%. Danilo Medina received the highest levels of support in the National District with 44% and the lowest in the southeast and southwest with 35%.
Mejia is more popular with men (53%) than with women (48%).
Looking at the other candidates, the poll revealed that Guillermo Moreno and Eduardo Estrella both had 3%, and Julian Serulle and Hatuey Decamps both registered 1%.
The results were presented by the president of Bendixen and Amandi, Sergio Bendixen, at a press conference in the Hotel El Embajador in Santo Domingo earlier this week.
