According to Listin Diario, the Attorney General and national security entities have launched an investigation to establish who was responsible for hacking the First Lady's e-mail account, along with those of various ministries and businesspeople.
A source said that they have identified a man, named only as 'Gomez', who is behind the hacking operation, which is a violation of the law.
With the help of the telephone companies, following the hacking into an e-mail account belonging to a beauty salon owner, the investigators succeeded in tracing the hackers to a house on Enriquillo Avenue in Santo Domingo where an illegal connection has been set up.
Analysis by National Investigation Department (DNI) specialists and other intelligence organizations can establish whether the hacker has engaged in other types of spying such as blackmail and extortion against prominent figures. It was also mentioned that the son of a well-known private banker said that his girlfriend had been sent compromising photographs.
