Alvarez is new PC coordinator general

The membership of Citizen Participation has chosen lawyer Francisco Alvarez as it new coordinator general. The civil society watchdog group chose Jose Manuel Paliza, Jose Tejada, Candido Mercedes, Sonia Vargas, Samir Chami Isa and Rosalia Sosa as members of its Coordinating Committee. The election took place during the XVIII General Assembly of the organization. The executive coordinator of PC, Javier Cabreja, stated that Alvarez was an eminent jurist who is a member of the firm of Russin, Vecchi & Heredia Bonetti as well as a partner at Headrick, Rizik, Alvarez & Fernandez. Samir Chami Isa, the previous coordinator general had come under fire for comments made about the Central Electoral Board (JCE), and was accused of being partial to the opposition PRD, but this was denied by Cabreja who said that each coordinator general serves for a one-year term.
