The Central Electoral Board (JCE) confirmed on Thursday February 9 that the PRD would take the first spot on the ballot paper for the presidential elections on 20 May. They also decided that the ballot paper would not include the photograph of the vice presidential candidates.

The decision was based on the results of the 2010 congressional and municipal elections and the results party by party, without the alliances. These showed that at municipal level the PRD obtained 1,453,340 (42.78%) votes and at congressional level 1,272,536 (38%). The PLD had 1,305,025 (38.41%) at municipal level and 1,380,601 (41.71%) congressional votes. Overall the PRD received 40,250 more votes.

At the meeting, the protocols concerning alliances and coalitions were also approved.
