Interviewed on the D'Agenda TV program, Minister of Public Works and Communications Victor Diaz Rua announced that work would commence shortly on the road linking the Cibao with the south of the country. He said that the road, which will cost more than US$100 million, would connect Juan Adrian in Monsenor Nouel province with Rancho Arriba, passing through Sabana Larga, and then on to San Jose de Ocoa where it will meet the Sanchez highway.

He stated that the work should be completed in no more than three years and that this road was the only way for the province of San Jose de Ocoa to solve its communication problems with the rest of the country, because the road that currently connects it with the Sanchez highway is unusable and cannot be repaired.

He also announced that President Leonel Fernandez would inaugurate the new Jarabacoa n El Rio - Constanza road on Tuesday February 14, which would solve the communication issues of both towns, as reported in El Caribe.
