Central Electoral Board (JCE) president Roberto Rosario told reporters yesterday Monday February 13 that some of the political parties did not want the media to be informed of the election results this May. However, he did not identify these parties, adding that he hoped to have the support of all the parties in order to guarantee the transparency of these presidential elections.
If the proposal to transmit the election results directly from the regional/provincial election boards to the JCE as well as the media goes through, this will be a major first for the Dominican Republic, said Rosario. The JCE, the political parties and the media will all have access to the same data streaming from the local election boards, and this is thought to be conducive to effective levels of transparency.
