On the outskirts of Santo Domingo, several yards are strewn with the remains of buses that at one time were used by the Metropolitan Office for Autobus Services (OMSA). However, apparently Ignacio Ditren, the OMSA director did not appreciate the report in yesterday's Hoy newspaper and he refuted some of the information in the article. Speaking through his public relations office, Ditren said that the OMSA has 300 buses working and not the 137 mentioned in the article. The article also mentions OMSA's 3,659 employees, which works out at 27 employees for each bus. There are 758 bus drivers and 713 fare collectors on the payrolls.

OMSA PR manager Yovanny Ventura said that he would provide a detailed report on the personnel at OMSA, and he justified the fact that there were 36 employees in the Medical Division, although the agency has medical insurance for all of its employees. The newspaper also reported on the vehicular cemeteries on 27 de Febrero in Las Caobas as well as the workshop on Kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highway, the terminal on Mella Highway in Santo Domingo and the lot next to the Quinto Centenario Race Track. According to one employee who asked for his name to be withheld, many of the buses are out of service for small faults that should be easy to repair.
