Assistant public prosecutor Dr. Angel Castillo took up his new appointment as Director of prisons yesterday, Tuesday February 14, taking over from Dr. Mario Acosta.
El Dia reports that Castillo assured prison employees that they would continue to follow the same plan as under Mario Acosta and thanked him for his contribution. He also thanked President Leonel Fernandez, Attorney General Radhames Jimenez Pena and prosecutors throughout the country for their support and trust in him.
He said he would continue working on the Pardons Commission.
Mario Acosta is a lawyer, specializing in public administration, judicial reform, foreign policy and anti-corruption policies. He studied law at PUCMM where he graduated with honors Summa Cum Laude and then obtained a Masters in Public Administration from the same university. In 1998 he studied in the US, at the Tulane and Loyola universities in New Orleans.
