Yesterday, Tuesday February 14, the Banco de Reservas and Wells Fargo Express Send signed an agreement to facilitate sending money by Dominicans who live in the United States to their families in the Dominican Republic, at low cost and with better national distribution.

The agreement was signed by the head of Banreservas, Vicente Bengoa Albizu, and the executive vice president of Wells Fargo Express Send, Daniel Ayala, and allows remittances to be sent at a cost of US$6 for any amount up to US$1,000, which can be paid in local currency using an account at Wells Fargo, or using another account at a cost of US$9. The money will be sent from the Wells Fargo office, arriving in Banreservas in 10 minutes.

Wells Fargo Express Send is the largest bank in the United States with more than 6,000 branches in over 43 states. It has more than 12,000 Automatic Teller Machines, and is also in 15 other countries including the Dominican Republic.

Ayala emphasized the ties between the United States and the Dominican Republic and the contact the Dominicans have with their families whether daily by telephone or, more importantly the financial support provided by the two million Dominicans in the US.

Bengoa stated that the initiative was of great significance as it was an agreement between two major businesses, the internationally prestigious Wells Fargo Express Send and Banreservas, the most experienced financial institution in the Dominican Republic.

He added that Banreservas had more than 200 branches and 420 Automatic Teller machines throughout the country
