Early yesterday morning, Thursday February 16, several hooded men were caught on camera breaking into a warehouse belong to UPS at Santo Domingo's Las Americas International Airport. They stole gold ingots, jewelry, electro-domestic products, music equipment and cell phones, worth around RD$10 million.
According to the police, the thieves entered through the zinc roof, and used a vehicle to transport the merchandise.
The police are investigating employees who work in the cargo area near the warehouse at the airport, as well as military and members of the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESA) who are in charge of security in the area.
One year ago, there was a robbery worth over US$100,000 at same warehouse, which ended in a bloodbath with several dead including a police colonel.
