PRD president Miguel Vargas Maldonado has told the Central Electoral Board (JCE) that he supports the Board's proposal to send the election results to the media at the same time that they were being sent to the political parties. This stance contradicts the opinion expressed by his party's presidential candidate Hipolito Mejia's National Campaign Command as expressed a letter signed by the PRD political delegate to the JCE, Salvador Ramos. The letter signed by the PRD president was delivered to the secretary general of the JCE by the PRD's technical delegate, Teofilo Rosario, yesterday Monday February 20.
In the letter Vargas Maldonado ratifies his position that the PRD backs the JCE's proposal to send the election acts to the media. "In the previous position, the PRD reaffirms its support for the transparency of the election process of 20 May, which guarantees the organizational success of the elections under the responsibility of the election agency under your direction," it says.
