Members of the Metrallas and the Tigres, gangs from the Dominican Republic, are breaking in to the houses of rival Dominican gang members in Madrid, in order to steal their drugs and sell them in Latin American neighborhoods. According to Spanish newspaper ABC, the Police have identified several gang members as former deportees from the US to the Dominican Republic. A news article in Listin Diario says that the Spanish authorities know that since these people have no other skills, they dedicate themselves to a life of crime. According to a report by Carlos Hidalgo, two gang leaders known as "Jimmy" and "Wellington" have a bloody record of crimes in the United States. Dominican Police spokesman Maximo Baez Aybar and National Drug Control Department spokesman Roberto Lebron said that they would provide information on Miguel Carballo and Carlos Baez today. The article goes on to say that the contract killers learned their trade in the United States and took it back to the Dominican Republic. As experts on "settling accounts" for drug gangs, they are considered to be "pretty dangerous." The article adds that most of these individuals do not live in the areas inhabited by Dominicans in Madrid but come into the city to do their work. The long report concludes that their route into Spain is often through Milan where they get together to travel to Spain by car. The Spanish authorities have carried out two operations against these gangs and the persons arrested are in prison.
