Two more surveys have placed PLD presidential candidate Danilo Medina in the lead for the forthcoming elections.

During presentations at the Holiday Inn in Santo Domingo, Hamilton Campaigns, a US research company represented by David Beattie, said that Danilo had 50% of the vote while Hipolito Mejia (PRD) has 45%. According to acento.com.do, he confirmed that the research had been commissioned by private businesses but he was unable to reveal who they were for ethical reasons. The Hamilton poll was conducted from 11 to 14 February with a sample of 1,200 people and a margin of error of 2.8%.

The Asisa Research Group, specializing in Latin American Research, said that Medina had 52.1% against Mejia with 46.3%. Danilo Guzman, the head of Asisa, said that the sample size was 11,574 national interviews, held between the 10 and 14 February with a margin of error of 0.91% and 95% level of confidence.

He said that 80% of the electorate stated that the reason for the increase in support for Medina was due to having Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez on the same ticket, as reported in Listin Diario.
