El Dia reports that the national Drug Control Agency (DNCD) is investigating whether the three million counterfeit dollars seized earlier this week in Mata de San Juan in Santo Domingo North, would have been used to pay for cocaine.
Roberto Lebron, DNCD spokesman said that the DNCD's action had prevented a bloodbath that would have taken place had the forgers tried to use the dollars to deceive drug traffickers.
The police and the DNCD are still looking for the owner of the house where the printing press was discovered. In the meantime domestic employee Natividad Gomez and motor taxi driver Luis Morel have been released.
As the house where the counterfeit money was found was near the Joaquin Balaguer airport, the authorities believe it was an ideal place for drugs entering the country.
