No matter which party wins the May elections, the new administration will be obliged to introduce a new tax package that will allow the country to obtain the necessary resources to deal with the development of society, according to Minister of Economy, Planning and Development Temistocles Montas.
During a recent American Chamber of Commerce's Economic Committee's breakfast meeting, Montas spoke about "The National Development Strategy and the implications on taxes" to an elite audience of business and industrial leaders as well as politicians. He said that the political, economic and social forces of the country needed to get together and deal with the quality and transparency of public expenditures. The Minister also called for a greater balance in the tax structures through reducing tax evasion and increasing savings. This would facilitate the compliance of the National Development Strategy (END), recently passed by Congress.
