It might be wise to prepare your generators and inverters, because the State Electricity Company (CDEEE) has announced that three of its generating units will be offline for normal maintenance procedures or because of unforeseen technical issues and the need for repairs. One of the units - Itabo I - went offline when one of the boilers sprung a leak on Wednesday morning, February 22. AES Dominicana said that the unit should be back online soon. Another unit - Los Mina VI - is down for corrective maintenance and will not be back online until 11 March, according to El Nuevo Diario. The CDEEE also said that the San Felipe unit in Puerto Plata was closed for some repairs. They added that the unscheduled outages have affected EdeSur customers, some 300,000 users in Santo Domingo, the National District and several cities in the southwest. These are customers on B, C and D circuits, which normally receive 20, 16 and 14 hours of electricity a day.
