Luis Miguel Pereyra, the lawyer representing First Lady Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez, announced at a press conference in his offices yesterday Thursday February 23 that he had received a certification from Danske Bank stating that she had no type of relationship with them.
The information was received shortly after the Danish government informed the Dominican government via their Banking Superintendent that Cedeno de Fernandez did not have an account with Danske Bank.
As far as the legal case is concerned, Pereyra confirmed that they would proceed with the case against Marcos Martinez, including forgery of documents and defamation. Falsification of documents alone carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison, as reported in El Nacional.
