Yesterday Thursday February 23, the ruling PLD party accused PRD presidential candidate Hipolito Mejia of being behind the allegations made by Marcos Martinez against the First Lady, Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez, about a supposed bank account containing more than 43 million euros.
According to the PLD, the Danish Banking Superintendent and Danske Bank had confirmed that it was a lie and an invention by Hipolito Mejia. PLD General Secretary Reinaldo Pared Perez accused Mejia of running a dirty campaign, which was being coordinated and orchestrated by him and his closest allies from the campaign command center.
Pared Perez stated that it was an act of desperation due to the fact that Danilo Medina and Cedeno de Fernandez were ahead in the polls.
