In a bid to prevent violence during the electoral campaign, the ruling PLD and main opposition PRD parties have announced plans to sign a civility pact, reports El Nacional.
Campaign managers Francisco Javier Garcia of the PLD and his PRD counterpart Cesar Cedeno said they would be meeting to coordinate the dates of each party's programs to ensure there were no clashes. Both said that they wanted to avoid a dirty campaign.
Cedeno confirmed that the PRD would sign anything that contributed towards the peace and Garcia said that he would communicate with Cedeno to coordinate the meeting.
In the last few weeks the candidates have been campaigning in the same provinces and areas but so far there has been no violence.
