The foreign ministers of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, Carlos Morales Troncoso and Laurent Lamothe, signed a joint declaration in Port-au-Prince yesterday Wednesday February 29, which establishes the priority issues to be dealt with by the Mixed Bilateral Dominico-Haitian Commission. The document brings together issues in the areas of trade, investment and tourism; immigration and frontier issues; security and justice; transportation and communication and the environment.

The working plan includes the establishment of a regulatory agreement covering transport between the two countries, the revision and updating of the Customs Agreement of 1998 in order to facilitate bi-national commerce and the cooperation of the energy and tourism sectors.

The agenda also seeks to define the initiatives to document the immigrants from Haiti, the reconstruction of the frontier markers and priority projects for bi-national delimitation.
