The Santo Domingo Stock Exchange (BVRD) has new offices in Santo Domingo's Evaristo Morales sector, on Calle Jose Brea Pena, close to several leading banks. Speaking at the inauguration, BVRD director Darys Estrella Mordan said that the new premises use state of the art technology to safeguard its main asset, which is the information provided to its customers and users. The BVRD uses the Bloomberg technology platform.
Maria Antonia Esteva de Bisono, who is the president of the BVRD board of directors, stated that the new location motivates everyone who enters the doors to think big about the potential of the Stock Market in the Dominican Republic.
BVRD director Estrella spoke of the growth in recent years, going from five BVRD placements in 2006 to a present 26 a year. Commercial paper transacted through the BVRD increased from RD$1,674,299.46 in 2006 to RD$70,519,523,926.02 in 2011.
Superintendent of Values Felix Paniagua, Minister of Industry and Commerce Manuel Garcia Arevalo attended the ceremony together with leading businesspeople.
