Speaking in Santiago yesterday Wednesday February 29, former Police Chief Jaime Marte Martinez that the Police should "cut the sleeves" as a form of dishonorable discharge from the force for leading security assistants to President Leonel Fernandez who have had their US visas revoked, before doing so to lower ranking corporals. Marte Martinez is an open supporter of the PRD presidential candidate, former President Hipolito Mejia.

The Miami Herald recently confirmed that the US had revoked the visas of General Hector Medina Medina, top military adviser, and Major General Manuel de Jesus Florentino Florentino, border security chief. The controversy was first aired last year upon the publication of WikiLeaks, but is now back in the news after a report on Univision mentioned that the US government had removed visas from former chief of the Police Major General Rafael Guillermo Guzman Fermin and National Investigations Department deputy director Victor Crispin Zorilla. They later traveled to the US to meet with the journalist and deny they were not allowed to enter the US.

Marte Martinez told Hoy that the authorities should reveal why the visas were revoked. "There are many officers in that same situation. What is important is not that the visas were revoked, what is important is why they were revoked," he said.

"We see the chief of the Police cutting the sleeves of low-ranking officers, but what he should do is cut those of high officers, those from whom the US has revoked their visas," said Marte Martinez.

Neither Medina Medina nor Florentino Florentino have confirmed or denied the allegations that their US visas have been revoked.
