The Dominican Astronomy Society is inviting budding astronomers to observe the stars on Friday, 2 March at 7pm. The observatory has telescopes installed on the roof of the Museum of Natural History in Santo Domingo's Plaza de la Cultura. The Society says participants will take part in a session at the Planetarium with Carlos Sanlley. Then they will go up to the roof to observe Jupiter as it disappears and Venus. Those attending will also learn about what Mars is up to, will watch the moon and a Orion nebula, early in the evening and more on stars and planets. Tickets are RD$200 for adults and RD$100 for children. The society meets on the first and third Thursday of the month. Those attending should confirm to make sure that weather conditions allow for the stars and planet observation to be held that day.
