The Transport Reorganization Office (Opret) has announced that works for the installation of beams on an elevated portion over the Las Americas Expressway would be postponed until next Thursday, 8 March. Commuters had been alerted that the construction works would cause a traffic diversion from the Juan Carlos Bridge to the toll plaza every night from 11pm until 5am over the weekend. The heavy rains that affected Santo Domingo this week caused delays in preparatory works for the installation of the beams, leading to the postponement of the traffic flow diversions.
The elevated roadway is being built to provide north-south access to the Hipodromo V Centenario Avenue to the Las Americas Expressway in the north-southeast direction.
