The Ministry of Culture announces that the Malecon will be closed off from 8am to 12 midnight on Saturday, 3 March for the installation of seating and decorations for the Sunday, 4 March carnival parade. Carnival groups from all around the country are coming for the parade. On Sunday, the Malecon will be closed off from 6am to 12 midnight. The parade begins at 3pm from one extreme to the other. There will be floats, dancing troupes and carnival groups from all around the country. The parade is organized by the Ministry of Culture with the sponsorship of Presidente beer. This year's event will honor the late folklore promoter, Nereyda Rodriguez.
The carnival is dedicated to La Vega and guest groups from Aruba, Bulgaria, Curacao, Colombia, Taiwan, Guadeloupe, Haiti and Honduras will be parading.
