The PLD is planning to register its alliances for the 20 May elections at the Central Electoral Board (JCE) this afternoon. Meanwhile the PRD expects to conclude the process during the day, before the midnight deadline tonight. According to Diario Libre, as of yesterday, Monday March 5, the PRD delegate to the JCE, Salvador Ramos, said that they were ironing out details in the documents in order to complete the registration process. The PRD is also waiting for the Independent Revolutionary Party (PRI) to hold their assembly in order to proclaim Hipolito Mejia as their candidate.
In the country, 26 parties are recognized by the JCE. So far, the PLD has alliances with 13 and the PRD with six. The PRD is allied with the Social Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRSD), National Civilians and Veterans Party (PNVC), Dominican Humanist Party (PHD), Dominican Social Alliance (ASD) and the Alternative Democratic Movement (MODA).
The PLD has made alliances with the PRSC, The Quisqueyan Christian Democrat Party (PQDC), National Progressive Force (FNP), Social Democrat Institutional Block (BIS), Dominican Workers Party (PTD), Liberal "La Estructura" (PLRD), Civil Renewal Party (PCR) and the Liberal Action Party (PAL). The Popular Democrat Party (PDP), Green Socialist Party (PASOVE), Christian Popular Party (PPC), National Unity Party (PUN) and the Christian Democratic Union (UDC) have decided to support Danilo Medina and Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez.
