On Monday, the Dominican Anti-Corruption Alliance (ADOCCO) asked the General Department for Public Purchases and Contracts of the Ministry of Hacienda to begin an investigation into alleged irregularities in the tender process by the Metropolitan Office of Bus Service (OMSA) for the lease of more than 300 buses for seven years.

ADOCCO General Coordinator Julio Cesar de la Rosa told El Nuevo Diario that he wanted to know why OMSA director Ignacio Ditren chose to lease 370 buses for transporting passengers between the end of April and next May, instead of purchasing these units, since Omsa will have to pay RD$13 per passenger. This means an outlay of funds each month, which added to their payroll will become unmanageable. The anti corruption agency asked for the tender to be investigated since it had come about as the result of a selection of companies that are unknown in the area of mass transportation such as Exced Creditt, which will provide 150 buses, Matola Comercial, which will provide 150 buses and Ventosa Group, which will provide 70 buses.
