There are 21 deputy ministers in the Ministry of Public Works, of whom 20 are assigned to the office of Minister Victor Diaz Rua. Only one of the deputy ministers has a specific title n Porfirio Antonio Brito Jorge, who is in charge of the northern region. Hoy reports today that the deputy ministers assigned to the Ministry are Carlos Bartolome Lalane, Carmen Leyda Mora, Claudia Franchesca de los Santos, Fabio Aquiles Hernandez, Francisco Jose Feliz Perez, Juan Carlos Montas, Luis Jose Placeres Pena, Luis Osvaldo Adriano Estrella, Manuel Antonio Rivas, Mario Antonio Holguin, Mayobanex Escoto, Miguel Angel Hernandez, Nadia Sebastiana Munoz, Nelson Eladio Marmolejos Acosta, Osiris Juan Miguel Duquela, Rafael Arturo Socias, Rafael Octavio Ramirez, Rigoberto Santos Hilario, Sergio Manuel Hernandez Divanne and Vernice Paez Rodriguez. The deputy ministers receive monthly wages of RD$60,080 plus perks.

Hoy reports that the same that has happened in other government departments. The information on the payroll of the Ministry of Public Works does not coincide with that made public by the Controller General of the Republic.

Hoy reports that it is not clear how many deputy ministers have been appointed in the Fernandez administration. The newspaper established that the Ministry of Education has 25, Environment 19, Tourism 21 and the Ministry of Agriculture 38.

Hoy reports that the Ministry of Public Works says it has 6,846 employees and pays RD$70.9 million in wages every month. The Controller General office has registered 6,459 employees and wages of RD$67.6 million.

The Ministry of Public Administration (MAP) had ordered on 20 February that each ministry of the government keep to the legal maximum of six deputy ministers. MAP nevertheless did authorize an increase in deputy ministers on a case-by-case basis.
