According to Acento.com.do, the PRD Judicial Commission is urging the government and Congress to order an investigation into Senator Felix Bautista and other high-ranking Dominican government officials, in connection with complaints about alleged irregularities in the allocation of building contracts for reconstruction in Haiti.
According to the PRD, the State should take public responsibility in relation to the scandal that led to the resignation of Haitian Prime Minister Gary Conille. Conille stated he had to resign as he was being put under pressure to suspend investigations into the engineering contracts for the reconstruction of Haiti. Senator Felix Bautista was among the beneficiaries by means of two companies: Constructora Hadom, which is registered in Haiti and Constructora Roffy S.A (or Roffi), registered in the Dominican Republic.
They stated that as a senator from the Dominican Republic had been mentioned in connection with the international scandal, it was imperative that the Dominican authorities order an investigation to establish the truth of the matter.
Bautista has confirmed that he does own the two companies but denies any wrongdoing.
