More than 300 entities will take part in the XXV National Farmers' Fair. The 2012 event will feature renewable energy as a way for farmers to earn money. Mexico and Panama have been invited to the event organized by the National Board of Cattle Ranchers, with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Directorate General of Livestock, the Agriculture Bank, and Farmers' federations, cooperatives and associations. President Leonel Fernandez will inaugurate the event on Saturday 17 March at 6pm.

The Fair will have several pavilions dedicated to energy conservation and a milking competition featuring the Gyr cows which were introduced from Mexico. The pavilion for farming institutions will display technological advances in the sector and feature some of the government's activities in the area. There will even be a rodeo at the arena at the Ciudad Ganadera. As is traditional, there will also be livestock judging for cattle, goats, rabbits, pigs and sheep. Students are especially welcome at this year's Fair.
