Dean warns of collapsing building

The Council of the Humanities Faculty at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo has warned that the building that houses the faculty is in an advanced state of disrepair and in danger of collapsing. An article in Hoy newspaper says that the situation is causing concern for students, teachers and their families, and that thousands of persons are potential victims. Rafael Morla, the faculty dean, told reporters that he had asked President Leonel Fernandez to come to the assistance of the building. He said that the faculty has been asking for repairs for more than five years, and showed a video to reporters portraying the obvious structural deterioration. Morla said that his petition was backed by university rector Mateo Aquino Febrillet.
