Women are more likely to vote for the PLD Danilo Medina-Margarita Cedeno ticket.

The Greenberg-Diario Libre poll reveals that despite the closeness of candidates in electoral preferences, there is a marked preference among women for the Danilo Medina-Margarita Cedeno ticket. Medina has a strong 17-point lead among women (55 to 38%), while Mejia has a 14-point lead among men (54 to 40%).

While in 2008, with President Leonel Fernandez running against PRD contender Miguel Vargas, the percentage of women with favorable feelings towards the PLD was 11 points higher than men, women now give the PLD a 14-point lead on the electoral preference shown by men.

And while the PRD rate among men was 8 points higher than women in 2008, now the party is a favorite among men by 13 points.

The increase is attributed to the positive public rating of First Lady Margarita Cedeno's work. The poll showed that 55% of women approved her work, and 42% of men. The survey also notes that 48% of men favor the work of the PLD vice presidential candidate. The First Lady's Office had a budget of approximately RD$660 million in 2011, mainly for social programs.
