A high-ranking delegation from the Dominican Republic attended the United Nations Organization annual assembly where they met with the Human Rights Commission. The delegation, composed of representatives from the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Women, the Attorney General, Migration, and the office of the Attorney General, delivered a 41-page rejection of charges that the country sponsored, fostered or allowed racism in any form. The formal rejection noted that individual acts of racism did not constitute a government policy and were in violation of articles 336 and 336-1 of the Dominican Penal Code as protected under the Dominican Constitution.

According to Listin Diario, the delegation was questioned on police violence, gender violence, and discriminatory actions against disabled people, Haitians, gays, transsexuals and lesbians. The delegation replied that cases of sexual harassment were treated as criminal offenses and handled by a special prosecutor. The delegates said that disabled people were being included within the provisions of the Social Security System and that there are no distinctions in the legislation or in practice that discriminate against anyone because of his or her sexual orientation or nationality.
