President Leonel Fernandez met with legislators from his own party, the PLD, yesterday evening Wednesday March 14 to discuss the country's economic situation and the need to maintain economic discipline. He also went over the legislative agenda, especially the proposals submitted by the Executive Branch.
Presidential Minister Cesar Pina Toribio told reporters from El Nuevo Diario that there was a special focus on passing the proposals that would not interfere with the election process.
Abel Martinez (PLD), the president of the Chamber of Deputies, said that emphasis was placed on the passage of the Civil Process Code, the Civil Code, the Penal Code and the Penal Process Code as well as the Fundamental Law of the Armed Forces.
