The National of Consumer Rights Protection Institute, Pro Consumidor, announced that via their legal and conciliation departments, they have negotiated 92,467,226 pesos of compensation for consumers during the last twelve months based on General Law 385-05 for the protection of Consumers and Users

The sectors involved include stores, goods and property, financial entities, telecommunications, education and commerce. Also vehicle repair, commercial banks, cell phone repair stores, credit cooperatives and societies, electro-domestic shops, battery sales and travel agents.

Yesterday, Thursday, 15 March, The executive director of Pro Consumidor, Altagracia Paulino celebrated World Consumer Rights day by laying a wreath at the Homeland altar in Independence Park.

She said that unfortunately the country had an ingrained tendency of cheating people but that they would carry out educational activities during the week to teach the citizens about consumer rights, as reported in El Dia.
