Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Jose Espinal Munoz, aged 42, was arrested on Wednesday, 14 March in connection with the decommissioning of 409 lbs of marijuana in Neiba.
He was traveling in a Mitsubishi that was being followed by members of G-2 after evading two checkpoints on the Jimani n Neiba road, and upon realizing they were being followed, his companion threw the 49 packs of marijuana out of the window.
DNCD chief Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo confirmed Espinal Munoz's arrest, together with his brother in law, Julio Cesar Betances Jimenez who was with him in the car.
The men and the drugs were handed over to the DNCD. The DNCD attributed the arrest of the suspected trafficker to the fact that the G2 officers were better equipped.
