PRD presidential candidate Hipolito Mejia has announced the signing of an agreement for support from PRD senator Juan Hubieres (Movimiento Rebelde), best known for his leadership of the Fenatrano public transport business. During the event, Hubieres accused Ignacio Ditren (Omsa government bus division), and Diandino Pena (Metro builder), Felucho Jimenez and senator Felix Bautista of being "thieves and corrupt" of the Presidential Palace, and using their positions in government for their personal profit.
Hubieres, who was a supporter of President Leonel Fernandez, ran for deputy on the PRD ticket in the 2010 congressional election, winning the seat for Monte Plata.
During the Juan Hubieres event, Mejia was accompanied by vice presidential candidate Luis Abinader, campaign coordinator Cesar Cedeno, party secretary general Orlando Jorge Mera, and party leaders Enmanuel Esquea Guerrero, Hugo Tolentino Dipp, and former Vice President Milagros Ortiz Bosch.
Mejia promised that Dominican justice was "not anyone's monopoly" and said he would tackle corruption and make available 4% of GDP for education, as reported in El Nacional.
