A Venezuelan nationalized Dominican was found carrying US$375,937 in undeclared cash while going through boarding procedures for a flight to Caracas at the Las Americas International Airport. Rules require that prior to leaving the country, amounts of cash over US$10,000 need to be declared. Rodolfo Enrique Fernandez Galvan was arrested and the funds confiscated on Friday, 16 March when members of the Airport Specialized Security Corps (CESA) detected the undeclared funds at the Migration inspection point and reported to Customs Intelligence agents who seized the money.

Fernandez was planning to leave the country on Venezolana to Caracas.

Law 70 on Money Laundering requires that travelers leaving the country need to declare the money.
