Tragedy struck eight families in Dajabon, after an Isuzu double cabin pickup spun out of control and crashed into a sign and tree, in a traffic accident around 3am on Sunday at the 27 de Febrero Avenue near the Junta Municipal Electoral in Santiago, the Police reported.
Seven of the occupants, Saulo Elias Peralta, 25, Carlos Argelis Reyes, 20, Yasely Lima, 22, Tania Lima, Pamela Vargas, 14, Yakiri Martinez, 21, and Antonio Manuel Lantigua, 55, died in the accident. Angelina Carolina Peralta, 17, is hospitalized in a serious condition. She said the accident had occurred around 3:40am. The group lived in Villa Olimpica al Sur in Santiago.
The group had been at an entertainment center, Lovera Bar, celebrating Yaki Martinez's birthday just before the accident occurred, police said.
Most of the victims were from the northwestern border city of Dajabon.
