The District Attorney for the National District, Yeni Berenice Reynoso said that lawyers for the defense of the persons accused of being part of the network of the accused drug trafficker Jose David Figueroa Agosto are delaying the trial.
El Caribe reports that the District Attorney complained that the delays that have been granted up until now are due to "stalling tactics presented by the defense that has shown that it wants to avoid reaching the conclusion of the trial." However, she added, the state is ready with its case the moment the magistrates so require. She added that the advantages granted by the Penal Process Code is that, when it is correctly applied, the trial process proceeds at a reasonable pace, and therefore the court has in its hands the ability to begin the trial within the legal framework.
