Midnight yesterday Wednesday, 21 March was the deadline for the registration of candidates. Diario Libre reports that the political parties used the day to present their presidential and vice-presidential and overseas deputy candidates before the Central Electoral Board (JCE). The first party to arrive at the JCE was Alianza Pais. Presidential candidate Guillermo Moreno was accompanied by his vice-presidential candidate, poet and intellectual Chiqui Visioso. Alianza Pais also registered Luis Mayobanex Rodriguez, Lucila Rutinel Dominguez and Jesus Morfe as candidates for overseas deputies from the First District. In the Second District the party registered Julio Martinez and Soraya Invernizzi, and in the Third District, they registered Manuel Amaro Diaz and Lourdes Ramirez.
In the meantime, Onofre Rojas, campaign chairman for Alianza por la Democracia (APD) arrived with a delegation to register Max Puig as the presidential candidate and sociologist Luz Maria Abreu as his running mate. They also registered their candidates for the overseas deputations.
