The National District Civil and Commercial Appeals Court has postponed a hearing of the appeals case of Biwater Limited until 17 April. The lawsuit was filed by Biwater Ltd against the retentive embargo which favored businessman Fulgencio Marcelo Abreu, who is owed US$9,313,833 for consulting work, according to a sentence issued by the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice in June 2010. In a contract dated March 2002, it is alleged that the company that obtained the contract for the construction of aqueducts of San Francisco de Macoris, San Cristobal and La Romana, for a total of US$151,721,234, would pay 8% of the sum, or twelve million plus, to the consultant, and which according to the plaintiff, he was only paid US$2,823,856.
