The UNPHU University Architecture School is celebrating its annual Festival de las Chichiguas (Kite Flying Festival) on Sunday, 25 March at the baseball field of the UNPHU grounds on the Duarte Highway. There are six categories: traditional, boxes, the smallest, the largest, the highest flier and open. Kites need to fly a minimum of 10 minutes and teams of up to two people are allowed. The winners will receive sculptures by artist Ricardo Brito. The event is organized by the Alumni Committee of the School of Architecture of the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena with the backing of the Faculty of Architecture and Arts and the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the UNPHU. Entrance to the university is via the Antonio Duverge Avenue. A fee of RD$300 is required to compete, but admission to see the kites fly is free. Food and beverages will be sold on site, making it a day out for all the family. The event will take place from 11am to 5pm. For more information, call 809 562-6601 Ext 2310/2205/2108
