The electricity distribution company covering the northern region, Edenorte, issued a warning to the public yesterday Thursday, 22 March about the existence of conmen who are telling people that their meters have been tampered with and if they pay a bribe they will not report it.
According to the note sent out by Edenorte, a number of customers have complained at their offices that two people in a car with Edenorte identity cards have visited them with this proposal.
Edenorte pointed out that if its employees find problems with meters they would always report them, and that they do not use private cars but company vehicles, which are always identified as such.
The company asked for the public's cooperation to catch the offenders, as reported in Listin Diario.
