The Ministry of Culture is advanced in preparations for the annual international book fair, the main government-organized cultural event.
The Santo Domingo International Book Fair is dedicated this year to Central America and is being held in honor of poet Enriquillo Sanchez.
There will also be special events to mark the 100th anniversary of the birthday of poet Hector Inchaustegui Cabral and painter Eugenio Fernandez Granell, who came to the DR as part of the Spanish migration of artists in the 1930s, as they fled the Franco regime. There will also be special events to commemorate the 100th birthday of the late Dominican 1940s Hollywood star Maria Montez.
Now in its 15th year, the Santo Domingo International Book Fair takes place from 18 April to 6 May at the grounds of Plaza de la Cultura.
