First Lady Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez has announced that she is taking leave from her role as general coordinator of the First Lady's Office. She says she will dedicate herself fully to campaigning for the Danilo Medina-Margarita Cedeno ticket. The First Lady said that she has done so at her own initiative, because Art. 69 of Electoral Law 275-97 of 21 December 1997 that obliges government officials to take leave for campaigning does not apply in her case.
